The Hierophant
Major Arcana5

The Hierophant

Tradition is the experience of thousands, condensed into rules. You can learn from your own mistakes or use someone else's. Structure provides support but doesn't cancel questions. Wisdom lies in knowing when to follow and when not to.

You either blindly follow dogma or rebel for rebellion's sake. Tradition turned into shackles, wisdom into moralizing. Spirituality replaced by ritual, questions by ready-made answers. The temple is empty, but everyone pretends to pray.

The Hierophant guards the keys to the temple. He doesn't remember why the temple was built, but the ritual continues.

How to Read This Card

Tarot cards are mirrors of your inner world. The meanings above are traditional interpretations, but remember:

  • Context matters — the same card can mean different things in different situations
  • Trust your intuition — if a card speaks to you differently, listen
  • Reversed doesn't mean bad — it often shows internal processes or blocked energy
  • Cards show possibilities, not fate — you always have the power to choose

Ask yourself the right question.
